Did you have EBV (Mononucleosis) or, if you had no symptoms, were the right antibodies tests ordered to check if a previous infection ever happened?

The connection with EBV and MS is now clear but many patients are still unaware they had EBV/Mono in the past. Quite often they say they have been tested but they were negative when in fact those with no active infection are only tested for active antibodies due to a CURRENT infection as no therapy is prescribed in case of positive antibodies so looking for old antibodies is not of medical interest for most doctors. This lead to many patients to believe they never encountered that virus.
